Visit to the Federal Research Center for Virology and Microbiology (FCIViM) Pokrov and Samara, Russia

In the period from September 10Th to September 14Th, 2018, Dr  Dejan Vidanović and

Bojana Tesovic, DVM, paid a working visit to the Federal Research Center for Virology and Microbiology Pokrov, Russia. During the meeting with the representatives of the management and laboratory heads, Dr. Vidanovic presented the VSI Kraljevo, as well as our experiences in the diagnosis, control and eradication of nodular dermatitis in Serbia in 2016.

FCIViM experts presented their work in the diagnosis of particularly dangerous infectious diseases with a special emphasis on diagnosis, suppression and eradication of African swine fever. FCIV laboratories are equipped with the most modern equipment and highly qualified staff with extensive experience in the diagnosis of infectious diseases. Demonstration and practical training of our experts in the diagnosis of African swine fever is of great importance due to the great danger that the disease will soon appear in our country.

Besides the visit to the base Institute in Pokrov, Dr. Dejan Vidanović and Bojana Tešović visited the office in Samara where they exchanged practical experience in the diagnosis of nodular dermatitis with colleagues from the Institute in Samara. A visit to farms with diseased cattle was also organized where the hosts demonstrated how to combat this disease in Russia.

The FCIViM visit was used to discuss with the hosts the future cooperation and exchange of scientists within short-term programs.
