Regional Training Course on Capturing Wildlife Animals and Collecting Samples

In cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Kraljevo Veterinary Specialist Institute from Kraljevo organized an international Regional Training Course on Capturing Wildlife Animals and Collecting Samples (Regional Training Course on Capturing Wildlife Animals and Collecting Samples) in the period from October 9-13 in 2023. This training course (EVT2303079) is part of the wider IAEA regional project, RER5027 Enhancing Preparedness Capacities of the Veterinary Sector to Confront with Emerging and Re-emerging Diseases of Livestock and Wildlife).

The purpose of the training was to train 26 participants from 18 countries in catching wild animals (bats, rodents, wild ruminants and wild carnivores) and taking samples for laboratory tests. The training was carried out at several locations on the Goč, Kopaonik and Tara mountains. Eminent experts from the country and abroad practically demonstrated the capture and immobilization of animals, safe handling and collection of blood, swabs and other samples necessary for laboratory tests.

In addition to the professional part, guests from abroad had the opportunity to learn about traditional local cuisine, hospitality and visit cultural and historical monuments such as the Studenica and Žiča monasteries and visit the tourist attractions of Kopaonik and Drvengrad.
